We Need the Physician Perspective

What actually happens when a patient needs support beyond the exam room?

Truth in Health is listening to Oklahoma physicians to better understand how healthcare, nutrition, prevention, community resources, referrals and follow-up connect in real-world patient care.

The Resource May Exist. But Does the Connection?

Oklahoma has healthcare providers, public-health programs, nutrition services, community organizations, care-coordination programs and other resources working to improve health.

But having a resource available is different from a physician knowing it exists, being able to refer a patient to it, the patient successfully accessing it, and meaningful information making its way back to the treating physician.

We want to understand that last mile of patient care from the people who experience it every day.

What Are We Trying to Understand?

• Nutrition: When nutrition or nutritional status may be relevant to a patient's care, how is that identified and what happens next?

• Resources: How do physicians learn what clinical, public-health and community resources are available?

• Referrals: When a patient is referred outside the practice, does the physician know whether the patient actually reached the resource?

• Follow-up: Does useful information come back to the treating physician?

• Barriers: Where do physicians see patients falling through the cracks—and what is already working well?

We're Listening Before Drawing Conclusions

This effort is not designed to prove that Oklahoma's systems are failing.

If something is working well, we want to understand that too. The goal is to hear directly from physicians about what happens in practice, identify successful connections worth learning from, and better understand where additional investigation may be warranted.

Who We're Looking For

We are currently seeking Oklahoma MDs and DOs who actively care for patients and are willing to share their professional perspective.

Primary care and physicians who regularly encounter chronic disease are especially valuable to this conversation, but different specialties, practice settings and geographic perspectives are welcome.

What Participation Means

Start by completing our short Physician Perspective interest form. Truth in Health may then contact you for a brief conversation about your experience with patient needs, referrals, community resources and care coordination.

We are not asking physicians to endorse a predetermined conclusion. We are looking for candid professional observations—including examples of systems and programs that are already working effectively.

Participation is voluntary.

About This Initiative

Truth in Health is gathering independent practitioner perspectives as part of its community and practitioner engagement work. Insights from this effort may help inform broader discussions about foundational health, healthcare delivery and health innovation in Oklahoma.
